What to Expect from Therapy with Me

If you've never been to therapy before or haven't found the right fit it can be hard to know what to expect. This page walks you through how we'd work together, from first contact to ongoing sessions.

Getting started

How it works, step by step

1. Get in touch

Email, use the contact form, or leave a voicemail. No long explanation needed, a few words about what brings you here is enough.

2. Free 20-minute consultation

I'll respond within 24–48 hours to arrange a brief phone or video call. We'll talk about what you're looking for and whether I can help. No commitment, no pressure.

3. First session

We take time to understand what brings you to therapy, what you'd like to change, and how we might work together. There's no obligation, it's an opportunity for us both to see if we're a good fit.

4. Ongoing work

If we decide to continue, we'll find a regular time that works for you. We'll review progress together and adapt as needed — nothing is fixed forever.

Common questions

  • This varies depending on what you're working on. Some clients find 6–12 sessions helpful for specific issues; others benefit from longer-term support for deeper patterns or complex trauma. We'll review progress together regularly and adjust as needed.

  • Yes. Everything discussed in our sessions is confidential. The only exceptions are rare circumstances where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, a safeguarding concern, or a legal requirement to disclose. Where safe to do so, I will always discuss this with you first.I follow NCPS ethical guidelines and full data protection requirements.

  • Therapy is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis between sessions, you can contact Samaritans (116 123), your GP, or emergency services if there is immediate risk. I provide all clients with a Crisis Resources sheet at the start of our work together.

  • Depending on the approach we're using, I may suggest reflective exercises or practices between sessions. These are always optional — they're there to support your progress, not to add pressure.

  • Yes. I am an integrative therapist in practice since 2020. My practice is guided by the NCPS Ethical Framework and I hold full professional insurance.

  • Sessions are available in English, Ukrainian, and Russian. You are welcome to work in whichever language feels most natural and comfortable for you.

  • Research consistently shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for most presentations, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Many clients find it easier to access and just as, if not more, comfortable than a physical space.
